CARIBOU, Maine — Police are on the scene Wednesday afternoon of a fatal two-vehicle accident on the Route 1 Connector, according to a Caribou Police Department dispatcher.
Few details were available on the 1 p.m. accident but the dispatcher said it involved two vehicles and at least one fatality.
The so-called Caribou Connector is a four-mile road connecting U.S. Route 1 and Route 89 to Route 161 north of downtown Caribou.
The accident occurred at the exit to Van Buren Road just north of the Caribou Veterans of Foreign War hall, according to the dispatcher.
The Maine Department of Transportation reports the road is closed Wednesday afternoon as rescue personnel are on the scene.
