PORTLAND, Maine — Portland police are investigating a Friday afternoon robbery at the University Credit Union at 391 Forest Ave.
The robbery happened at 3:40 p.m., when a man handed a teller a threatening note demanding cash, Assistant Chief Vernon Malloch said in a news release.
The man was given an undisclosed amount of money and fled the building, Malloch said. He was last seen riding a bicycle outbound on Forest Avenue. No one was injured.
The robber is described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, about 6 feet tall, medium in build and has a brown goatee. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, sneakers, blue framed sunglasses and a white baseball cap, Malloch said.
Friday’s robbery was the second at University Credit Union to occur this month. The credit union also was robbed Sept. 4. Malloch said that investigators do not believe the incidents are connected.
