FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — Two more people were arrested on Friday in connection with the theft of a gun from a federal employee’s home here last week.
Bashon Richardson-Pickett, 21, of Caribou and Darcie Dow, 19, of Fort Fairfield were charged Friday with one count each of receiving stolen property, the firearm, according to Sgt. Shawn Newell of the Fort Fairfield police department.
On Sept. 21, a High Street resident identified only as a federal law enforcement employee reported that a gun was missing from home. The next day Robert Nichols, 30, of Fort Fairfield was arrested by Newell and charged with burglary and theft.
The gun was recovered.
Details about the theft were not made public and Newell did not disclose whether or not the residence was unlocked. But he urged residents to secure their homes and vehicles — despite the low risk of crime in the area — noting that in July the town saw several motor vehicle burglaries around Elm Street and Brunswick Avenue.
“Just because we live in a sleepy community does not mean that crime is not going to happen,” Newell said.
