WATERVILLE — St. Joseph’s College scored four goals in each half to beat the Thomas College Terriers 8-1 in women’s soccer action Monday.
Colleen Sheehan scored two first-half goals for the Monks of Standish, both via assists from Haley DaGraca. DaGraca also scored from a Sheehan pass while Hannah LeBlanc scored unassisted.
Sarah Comtois and Desiree Parent each added a second-half goal for St. Joe’s, which benefitted from two Thomas own goals. Rebecca Pond and Megen Pollini each added an assist for St. Joe’s (5-5) and Michelle Cunha finished with three saves.
Bronte Howorth scored off a Cassie Contigiani assist for Thomas (4-4) in the first half and Paige Leary and Ashley Gooden combined for 17 saves.
Field Hockey
Colby 2, UNE 1
At Waterville, Megan Fortier scored off a Misha Strage assist in overtime to give Colby the victory over the University of New England.
Fortier stick handled in from the left side and came together at the same time with a defender and UNE goalie Holly Smith. Fortier pushed at the ball and it deflected right to Strage streaking up the middle and she scored her eighth goal of the season.
McKayla Blanch scored from a Hannah Hearn assist in the first half for Colby, but UNE equalized with 9:25 left in regulation on Nicole Matarozzo’s goal off a Vonde Saunders pass.
Smith finished with five saves for UNE (6-4) and Sarah Evans had four for Colby (5-3).
