CAMDEN, Maine — A 27-year-old Camden man is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Wednesday afternoon on charges that he broke into a downtown shop, stole valuable trading cards, then sold them at a Bangor store.
Devyn Robinson was arrested Monday morning by Camden police and charged with burglary, felony theft and violating a condition of release. He was taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland, where no bail was set because he was already on bail on charges of drunken driving and passing a police roadblock in connection with an incident in Rockport on Aug. 1, according to Camden police Detective Curt Andrick.
Robinson was arrested outside the courthouse in Rockland after he made an initial appearance on the earlier charges.
The burglary and theft occurred in the early morning hours of Sept. 21 at the Knowledge Vault on Mechanic Street in Camden, Andrick said. An affidavit filed by Andrick states that several “Magic” cards had been stolen and they were valued at between $2,000 and $3,000.
Robinson had worked at the Camden store during the summer but was fired, according to the affidavit.
The detective said Robinson sold the stolen items to a collectible store, the Game Citadel in Bangor, for $500. The Knowledge Vault owner posted the theft of the items on social media and was able to find out that they had been sold to the Bangor store.
The collectibles were recovered by police, Andrick said. He said if Robinson is convicted, the court could order him to pay restitution to the Bangor store that paid for the items.
