HARRISON, Maine — A local man has been arrested in connection with an accident that claimed the life of a South Paris woman last month.
Kevin Scribner, 27, was arrested without incident Wednesday night after a warrant was issued for his arrest, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.
Scribner has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death or seriously bodily injury, according to a sheriff’s office statement.
Brittany Stanhope, 21, of South Paris was struck and killed by a pickup truck allegedly driven by Scribner on Sept. 19 on Route 117 in Turner. Stanhope and a friend had mechanical troubles with her vehicle and pulled over on the side of the road.
Stanhope stepped outside her vehicle to retrieve something from the back seat when the truck struck her.
Bail for Scribner has been set at $5,000.
