ROCKLAND, Maine — Candidates for City Council and school board are scheduled to appear for two separate forums this month.

The public is invited to attend the candidate nights and pose questions.

The first forum — set for 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at City Hall — will feature the three candidates seeking two seats to represent Rockland on the Regional School Unit 13 Board. Incumbents Esther “Tess” Kilgour and Nancy Jeffers and challenger Jesse Butler have agreed to participate.

The second forum — set for 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at City Hall — will feature two of the three candidates running for one seat on the council. Incumbent Mayor Frank Isganitis and challenger Debbie Atwell have agreed to participate in the forum. Candidate William Jillson declined, saying he saw no reason to attend.

Candidates will give opening statements, and then the public can pose questions. The public also can email questions in during the forums to sbetts@bangordailynews.com.

Bangor Daily News reporter Stephen Betts will moderate the forums, which will be broadcast on the government access cable channel.
