WEST FORKS, Maine — A Fairfield man died Sunday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident on Route 201 in West Forks, according to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.

David Dubois, 44, was heading north when he apparently crossed into the southbound lane and struck a guardrail and large boulder, Chief Deputy James Ross said.

The impact caused the vehicle to veer back into the northbound lane and roll over several times before coming to rest in a ditch.

Dubois, who was alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, Ross said.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and the crash remains under investigation.
