HANCOCK, Maine — A local woman is facing multiple charges after setting her ex-boyfriend’s couch on fire on Friday, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
Althea Messer, 30, is accused of arson, aggravated criminal mischief and assault, according to Lt. Christopher Thornton.
Thornton said Messer arrived at her ex’s residence in Hancock “in a fit of rage” and proceeded to break nearly every window.
Messer then allegedly dragged a couch outside and set it on fire before fleeing. She was found a short distance from the residence and placed under arrest.
Messer was taken to Hancock County Jail after her arrest.
