PORTLAND, Maine — Two Portland residents, including a 3-year-old child, were seriously injured when an SUV hit them as they crossed Auburn Street Saturday night, police said Sunday.
The victims, whom police did not identify, were admitted to Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment. The driver of the SUV, a 55-year-old man, was not injured, police said.
The northbound SUV hit the pedestrians as they crossed near 238 Auburn St. at about 7:30 p.m. The vehicle did not appear to be traveling too fast for conditions, police said.
Police continue to investigate. They ask witnesses to the accident to call the Portland Police Department’s Traffic Division at 874-8532.
