AUGUSTA, Maine — An Augusta pair were arrested Wednesday afternoon after a large quantity of heroin and crack cocaine was found at an Orchard Street residence, according to the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
Kristen Swift, 27, and Joseph Anthony Oliveria, 26, are both facing multiple drug trafficking charges, Maj. Ryan Reardon said Thursday.
Reardon said the sheriff’s office received a tip and it turns out both Swift and Oliveria had bail conditions subjecting them to searches.
Approximately 15 grams of heroin and 10 grams of crack cocaine were found in the residence, including some in a bedroom appearing to belong to children, Reardon said.
After Swift and Oliveria were taken into custody and brought to the Kennebec County Jail, they denied having any additional drugs on them, but another 15 grams of heroin, totaling 30 in all, were found on the pair once they arrived at the jail, Reardon said.
Oliveria, who has prior drug convictions, was charged with trafficking in prison contraband, aggravated trafficking in heroin and aggravated trafficking in cocaine, while Swift was charged with trafficking in prison contraband, trafficking heroin and trafficking cocaine, Reardon said.
Both remained in county lockup without bail Thursday.
