BRUNSWICK, Maine — A 49-year-old man was in custody Friday morning after allegedly attacking his 91-year-old father with a bat at their home on Mere Point Road.
The victim was taken to Maine Medical Center by Brunswick rescue workers with head injuries, Brunswick police Cmdr. Marc Hagan said. He was listed in fair condition shortly after noon Friday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
His son was taken into custody by police without incident. He had not been charged as of 10 a.m. Friday
Police are not releasing the names of the two men.
Officers went to the men’s Mere Point Road home just after 7:30 a.m. Friday after the victim’s wife called 911, Hagan said.
The son was taken into custody at the scene without incident and was taken to Mid Coast Hospital for evaluation.
Detectives remained at the scene at 10 a.m. They seized a bat as evidence.
Hagan declined to release more information, citing an ongoing investigation.
