BETHEL, Maine — Police arrested a Bethel man at his home Sunday in connection with a hit-and-run in Bethel that left a child seriously injured Friday.
Oxford County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Richard Allen Marin, 45, at his home in Bethel Sunday morning and found the vehicle suspected in the hit-and-run hidden in his garage.
A car allegedly driven by Marin struck a child riding a bicycle on Church Street Friday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office.
The child was seriously injured and had to be airlifted to an area hospital where the child remained in serious condition Sunday, authorities said. Police have not released the name or age of the child.
Deputies tracked down the vehicle’s registered owner, a woman, who provided deputies with information that led them to Marin and the vehicle.
Marin was charged with aggravated leaving the scene of a personal injury crash.
He was held on Sunday at the Oxford County Jail, with bail set at $10,000 cash.
