Game notes: Quinnipiac has won the last two meetings by 2-1 scores. The Bobcats are 97-44-21 over the last four seasons and have reached the NCAA Tournament the last three years. Anas is a preseason All-ECAC selection after notching 23 goals last season. Smith was eighth among the nation’s freshmen in points per game a year ago (0.79). Anas, St. Denis and Smith have been linemates the past two games. Quinnipiac has two wins over Holy Cross from Atlantic Hockey and one over new Division I program Arizona State. Maine has played a much tougher schedule including No. 1 North Dakota (1-1 tie) and No. 18 Union (1-1 tie, 2-0 loss). The Black Bears have scored just two goals in their last three games and will be facing a quality goaltender in Garteig, whose 2.03 GAA last season was 14th best in the country. Maine has to find a way to generate more offense by attacking the net with more conviction and screening Garteig. Quinnipiac was chosen second in the preseason media poll and fourth in the coaches poll.
