LITTLE YARMOUTH ISLAND, Maine — A generator is believed to be the culprit behind a fire that ripped through a shed and an outhouse on Tuesday night, according to officials.
Ben Wallace Jr., fire chief for the Cundy’s Harbor Volunteer Fire Department, said crews responded to the camp around 8:30 p.m.
The fire extended from the shed to the outhouse but the camp, which was about 30-40 feet away, did not go up in smoke, Wallace said.
Two people staying at the camp suffered minor injuries and were transported to Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick, Wallace said. The fire was under control in about an hour and a half.
Wallace said firefighters from Cundy’s Harbor, Orr’s Island, Bailey’s Island and Harpswell had no road access to the scene, so fishing boats shipped firefighters to the scene.
Foul play is not suspected in the blaze.
