BANGOR, Maine — City police are hoping to find the owner of a lost dog that was discovered by Public Works employees on Monday morning.

According to a posting on Bangor police’s Facebook page, the dog, a male named George, is safe and has been brought to the Bangor Humane Society.

Bangor police Sgt. Tim Cotton said the dog’s owner’s granddaughter has contacted the humane society and is working toward getting George returned to his owner.
