WINDHAM, Maine — A Westbrook woman is facing multiple charges after leading police on a pursuit late Tuesday, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
Police tried to pull over Rebecca Warren, 32, on suspicion of drunken driving when she took off down River Road at a high rate of speed, according to a prepared statement from the sheriff’s office. Warren reached speeds of up to 65 mph.
The pursuit went from River Road onto Route 202 and into the Gorham rotary, continuing on Route 237 toward Standish when fog forced deputies to call off the chase, the statement said.
A short time later, the vehicle was found in a ditch as Warren had overshot a driveway and tried to back into it, winding up in the ditch.
Warren was located and arrested, then booked for eluding a police officer, operating after a license had been revoked, operating under the influence, refusing to submit to arrest and violating conditions of release.
A male passenger in the vehicle was not charged.
