WATERVILLE, Maine — Police are on the looking for a man who robbed the Rite-Aid pharmacy on Main Street, Deputy Police Chief Charles Rumsey of the Waterville Police Department said Thursday in a news release.
The robbery happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. when a white male approached the pharmacy counter, displayed a knife and demanded property, which Rumsey did not disclose, from the store.
“The male subject did receive property from the store and fled on foot,” Rumsey said.
The robber was last seen in the pharmacy parking lot heading north toward upper Main Street.
Rumsey said that police were not releasing further information about what was stolen or details about the suspect’s appearance until they have been able to review and confirm information provided them and evidence gathered at the scene.
No one was injured during the robbery, he said.
Waterville police asked that a police K-9 tracking team be brought to the area in an effort to track the robber’s movements. Maine State Police Trooper G.J. Neagle and his dog Draco, who were in Waterville at the time of the call, responded to the request for assistance.
Neagle and Draco tracked the suspect from the front of the pharmacy to a neighboring parking lot, where the trail ended, Rumsey said. Detectives are investigating the possibility that the robber might have been picked up by someone driving a vehicle.
The Maine State Police Evidence Recovery Team is assisting in the investigation.
