At Madison, Zach Caron scored on a 5-yard run in the first overtime as No. 5 Foxcroft Academy edged out No. 4 Madison-Carrabec for a 21-14 Class C North quarterfinal victory Saturday.

Foxcroft (5-4) will face No. 1 Old Town (8-0) in a semifinal next weekend. Madison-Carrabec ends its season at 4-5.

Foxcroft had the ball first in overtime and cashed in behind Caron — who finished with a team-high 96 rushing yards on 22 carries — and Nate Church, who added the third of his three successful extra-point kicks of the game.

The Ponies’ defense then held Madison-Carrabec out of the end zone on its possession to secure its fourth win in its last five games.

Madison-Carrabec, playing its first home playoff game in two decades, struck first on Nick Morales’ 99-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

Foxcroft tied the game on an 8-yard-run by Billy Brock in the second quarter, then took a 14-7 lead when Brock scored from 4 yards out in the third period. Madison-Carrabec tied the game on a 4-yard keeper by quarterback Chase Malloy in the fourth quarter.

Billy Brock contributed 53 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries for Foxcroft, while his older brother, Brandon Brock, rushed for 44 yards on nine tries.

Morales finished with 143 yards on 20 rushes for Madison-Carrabec while Malloy completed 8 of 14 passes for 59 yards, with two interceptions, one lost fumble and three quarterback sacks. Malloy also rushed for 52 yards on eight carries.

Caron led Foxcroft’s defense with 12 tackles, while Billy and Brandon Brock were in on 10 stops each. Hyatt Smith and Tanner Strout each had an interception for the Ponies.
