RAYMOND, Maine — Two Naples men were arrested Tuesday night in a heroin bust in nearby Raymond, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Lawrence Dyer, 51, and Kenneth Brown, 28, are each facing a charge of aggravated trafficking in heroin, Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said.
Agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies have been investigating drug distribution involving the pair over the last month, McCausland said.
Investigative efforts revealed Dyer and Brown had been traveling out of state to buy large quantities of heroin to be repackaged for sale in the Naples area, McCausland said.
A car operated by Brown was pulled over on Route 302 on Tuesday night, and a drug dog alerted police to the presence of drugs, leading to the alleged discovery of 27.5 grams of heroin.
Brown and Dyer, who was a passenger, were arrested and taken to the Cumberland County Jail, where bail was set at $10,000. The street value of the drugs is $5,000.
