BANGOR, Maine — A car hit a pedestrian late Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Broadway and Garland Street, according to police.

A local woman, believed to be in her 40s, was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries, Bangor police Sgt. Rob Angelo said Thursday evening. Angelo said the woman’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The names of the driver and the pedestrian were not immediately released.

The incident occurred about 4:50 p.m. Traffic was temporarily diverted at the intersections of Garland and Cumberland streets, a city emergency dispatcher confirmed. The road was reopened shortly before 5:30 p.m.
