Game notes: Bob Walsh’s Black Bears get a final tuneup for next Friday’s season opener at Connecticut against the Eagles. UMaine is trying to integrate seven newcomers into the lineup and hopes to build on last Saturday’s 104-58 win at Southern Maine. Freshmen Eke, Issac Vann and Ilija Stojiljkovic led the Bears, who placed six players in double figures. Husson, a member of the Division III North Atlantic Conference, is prepping for a Nov. 19 opener at Saint Joseph’s. Coach Warren Caruso’s Eagles were the NAC runners-up and reached the ECAC New England semifinals last season. Butler is the reigning NAC Player of the Year. UMaine hopes to exploit its frontcourt height, although the Eagles have some tall guards. The Bears are coping with injuries, but Little and Troy Reid-Knight have been cleared after head injuries. Marko Pirovic (knee) and Lavar Harewood (concussion) will miss the game, while Beal (ankle) and Stojiljkovic (foot) are questionable.
