METHUEN, Massachusetts — The man who died in a motorcycle crash Thursday evening was a 25-year-old from Scarborough, Maine, police said Friday.
Brandon Shelzi, whose last known address was in Scarborough, according to police, died when his motorcycle crashed into a woman’s car on Railroad Street at about 8:15 p.m. Thursday.
Shelzi was taken to Lawrence General Hospital after the crash and was pronounced dead.
Police said Shelzi was driving a Harley Davidson north on Railroad Street by Immaculate Conception Cemetery when he crossed the yellow centerline and crashed into a 2010 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 46-year-old woman, whom police have not identified.
The woman also was brought to Lawrence General with injuries not considered life-threatening, police said.
Patrolmen William Kannan and Patrick Fleming, along with Capt. Randy Haggar, investigated the crash with the help of the State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit.
Haggar told The Eagle-Tribune Thursday that speed may have been a factor in the crash.
