NEWPORT, Maine — Town police are looking for a local man in connection with a domestic assault on his girlfriend.

Newport police Chief Leonard Macdaid said officers responded to a Willow Drive residence Sunday afternoon after Coty Kelso, 26, allegedly assaulted his live-in girlfriend.

Macdaid said Kelso allegedly struck the woman in the chest with his fist and also allegedly threw her son into a wall. Neither victim required a trip to the hospital.

Kelso left the scene before police arrived and he faces two domestic violence assault charges. He also has an active warrant for unpaid fines and is known to frequent Somerset County and Greenville.

Kelso stands 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds and has brown hair with hazel eyes. Anyone with information on his whereabouts can call Newport police at 368-3263.
