BANGOR, Maine — The South girls and boys senior all-star teams each recorded 6-4 victories over their North counterparts in the 21st Maine Soccer Coaches Annual Senior Bowl Sunday at Husson University.

In the boys game, the South was led by Matt Caron of Scarborough with two goals and an assist. South Portland’s Ahmed Suja chipped in with two goals while Yarmouth’s Patrick Grant added a goal and three assists.

Maranacook of Readfield’s Jason Brooks scored the sixth goal and Cheverus of Portland’s Mackenzie Hoglund notched an assist. Gorham’s Trenton Bassingthwaite and Lee Academy’s Maurice Kopp were in goal.

Lewiston’s Abdi Shariff scored all four goals for the North, with three coming in a seven-minute span. Lewiston’s Masiah Hassan picked up two assists and teammate Abdulkarim Abdulle had one. Washington Academy of East Machias’s Jordan Lambe also had an assist. Goalkeepers for the North were Hampden Academy’s Kyle Townsend, Ellsworth’s Bruce St. Peter and Bangor’s Stanley Clarke.

In the girls game, Richmond’s Kelsea Anair scored two goals to spark the South. Greely of Cumberland teammates Izzy Hutnak and Jocelyn Mitiguy each added a goal as did Madison’s Kayla Bess and North Yarmouth Academy’s Emily Baker. Thea Sweet of Hall-Dale in Farmington contributed with two assists while Leavitt of Turner’s Liliana Cousineau, Falmouth’s Tyler Spence and Gray-New Gloucester’s Kaelyn Woods each had one. Leavitt’s Angela Daigle was the winning goalkeeper.

Amy Hallett of Penobscot Valley in Howland paced the North with two goals while Mount Desert Island’s Opal Curless and Presque Isle’s Taylor Williams each added one. Ashland’s Caitlin Paradis and Mt. Blue of Farmington’s Eryn Doiron each chipped in with an assist. Presque Isle’s Jillian Flynn and PVHS’s Sami Ireland were in goal.
