BANGOR, Maine — A batch of heating oil apparently leaked into the city’s sewer system on Thursday morning, and officials are investigating, Bangor Fire Lt. Phil Hamm said.
Firefighters were called to Hammond Street in the area of Fairmount Market shortly before noon, Hamm said.
Officials believe heating oil leaked from a resident’s tank down the drain and into the sewer system. The Department of Environmental Protection and the city’s sewer department are investigating, Hamm said.
No area businesses were affected by the incident.
