Say you live on Matinicus and you want to order some pizza from the mainland.

Here’s the problem: You’re 22 miles off the Maine coast, and the ferry — which takes two hours and 15 minutes, only runs roughly once a week. So getting some piping-hot, fresh pie could be a tall order.

The Island Institute produced this pretty amazing video that shows what it takes to get a pepperoni pizza delivered from Rockland to Matinicus.

In this case, it takes an airplane.
