DAMARISCOTTA, Maine — A Waldoboro man was arrested Friday in connection with alleged sexual assaults of a 14-year-old boy, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Adam McDonough, 48, is facing charges of sexual abuse of a minor and unlawful sexual contact, according to Lt. Michael Murphy.

The charges come after an investigation by sheriff’s deputies and Damariscotta police that McDonough had allegedly been assaulting the boy, whom he had met and befriended over the last year.

McDonough was arrested after being questioned and taken to the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset, from where he was later released on $2,000 bail.

McDonough’s bail conditions prohibit him from contacting children under age 18 or the victim.
