AUGUSTA, Maine — Police have released the name of a local man found dead in a Washington Street apartment on Monday and still are searching for a couple who lived in the apartment.
The deceased is Joseph Marceau, 31, who lived at 23 Winthrop St., Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said in a Tuesday night news release.
“An autopsy was performed today and his relatives were told of his death this evening,” McCausland said. “No cause of death is being released.”
Damik Davis, 25, of New York has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death.
State and Augusta police continue to seek the whereabouts of the the apartment residents — Zina Fritze, 27, and her boyfriend, Michael “Sean” McQuade, 47.
Augusta police went to the fourth-floor apartment around 8 p.m. Monday after receiving a report of a disturbance. Davis was found a short time later and taken into custody.
Police are looking to speak to Fritze and McQuade “to check on their well-being,” McCausland said. The couple were last seen on Monday, he said.
Fritze is 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 110 pounds, and now has brown hair, while McQuade stands 6 feet, 1 inch tall, weighs 150 pounds and has light brown hair.
