The BDN’s Matt Stone last week looked at how refugees come to live in the U.S. — and how many have come to Maine in recent years.
The Washington Post in late summer crunched the numbers to compile this map, which shows where they settle — and which states welcomed the most in 2013 and 2014.

The data come from the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement, and show that Maine falls in the second-highest quintile for states that have accepted more refugees.
The Dakotas, Idaho, Nebraska and Vermont had the highest rates of refugees during that period, according to The Post. Montana, Wyoming, Mississippi, Arkansas and Hawaii had the lowest.
