BANGOR, Maine — City police Tuesday conducted the third phase in the Bangor Community Outreach Policing project, Sgt. Tim Cotton said Wednesday.
Bangor officers focused on neighborhoods in the city’s west side, searching for active arrest warrants, probation violations and bail violations, Cotton said.
The project also includes checking addresses for those who are listed on the state’s Sex Offender registry, focusing on those who aren’t complying with their conditions or have failed to register, Cotton said.
Police also are gathering information on illegal drug activity to include potential distribution locations and individuals engaged in the sale of illegal contraband.
Cotton said the initiative is designed to work in collaboration with residents and community leaders to preserve and restore the appeal of neighborhoods.
