WISCASSET, Maine — A Wiscasset man convicted of domestic violence assault will serve three years in federal prison after pleading guilty in U.S. District Court to possession of firearms by a felon.

Johnny Ray Johnson, 58, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Chief Judge Nancy Torresen to three years in prison and three years supervised release, according to a release from U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II.

On Oct. 13, 2013, while Johnson was on probation for a 2013 domestic assault conviction, his probation officers conducted a home visit and found him in possession of three firearms, the release states.

Johnson pleaded guilty on July 14 and was sentenced Friday.

The investigation was conducted by the Maine Probation and Parole Office; the Bath Police Department; and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
