OLD TOWN — The Old Town Recreation Center has partnered with former collegiate baseball coach Dean Husted to offer a pitching clinic. Husted has worked with more than 50 players who have been drafted to play Major League Baseball including most recently Charlie Morton of the Pittsburgh Pirates.The pitching clinic will be held 5:30-6:30 p.m. Sundays, through Dec. 20, Old Town Recreation Center. Cost is $55. The Old Town Recreation Baseball coaching staff will also be on hand to assist. Space is limited to only 10 pitchers to optimize the instruction they will receive. PORTLAND, Maine — TEC Baseball Academy to present the third annual Best of Maine Clinic on Sunday, Nov. 29, at Portland Sports Complex, 512 Warren Ave. This baseball clinic is an opportunity to work and showcase in front of 8-10 college baseball coaches from around the country, from DI, D2, DIII, and JUCO. Fifteen players have gone on to play college baseball from the first two clinics. Spots for this clinic are limited to 45 players. BANGOR — The Bangor Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registrations for its 2015-2016 Youth Basketball Program. This eight-week program is open to all children in grades two-three and four-six, with separate boys and girls leagues. Teams will practice one evening per week and play their games on Saturdays, starting the week of Dec. 19 with a meet and greet on Dec. 5. The fee is $35 for residents and $45 for non-residents. ORONO — Registration for all Maine Junior Black Bears youth hockey house divisions is now open. Programs are available for ages 4-18 and include Learn to Skate/Learn to Play in partnership with the University of Maine Hockey teams. Other age groups are Midgets, Bantams, Peewees, Squirts, and Mites. All teams are co-ed and girls can cross-roster for U-12 all-girls team. SIDNEY — Maine Pond Hockey Classic, Feb. 12-14, 2016, at Snow Pond Center for the Arts on Snow Pond (Messalonskee Lake). The site will contain six or more rinks, beer garden, fire pits and food vendors. It will offer seven divisions for players of different ages and ability levels. The Maine Pond Hockey Classic is an annual fundraising tournament supporting the Boys and Girls Clubs and YMCA of Greater Waterville. Registration is underway.
