PORTLAND, Maine — Portland police are searching for three men they say broke into an unlocked apartment Monday night, assaulted and threatened the occupants and stole electronics.
Two 22-year-old residents of Sherwood Street told police at 10:20 p.m. Monday that three black males entered their apartment through an unlocked door, ordered the two alleged victims to lay on the floor, then assaulted them with an unspecified blunt object.
Police said one of the perpetrators was armed with a knife. While no gun was displayed, the intruders allegedly threatened to shoot the occupants and then demanded marijuana. When they were told the occupants had none, the suspects allegedly stole several small electronic items.
Both occupants suffered minor injuries, police said.
The perpetrators are described as black men between 18 and 22 years of age. Two of them are about 6 feet tall and the third is shorter, about 5 feet 6 inches tall. All three wore black hooded sweatshirts.
Police ask anyone with information to call them at 874-8575.
