OAKFIELD, Maine — Firefighters from several communities were called to Katahdin Cedar Log Homes on Thursday to extinguish what was described as a fire involving one of the manufacturing facility’s boilers.
The fire began about 3 p.m., a member of the Oakfield Fire Department said. Crews from Oakfield, Island Falls, Stacyville and Patten were at the scene as of 8 p.m.
Located at 205 Smyrna Road, Katahdin Cedar Log Homes was founded in 1973 by Foster Gordon. His son David Gordon now runs the company, and his grandson Gabe Gordon is the company’s marketing director.
