PORTLAND, Maine — Portland’s next mayor is just days away from being sworn in.

Ethan Strimling will officially be taking the job Monday at City Hall.

Strimling is leaving his position at the nonprofit Learning Works, where he was the director for 19 years.

Strimling says he’s excited to take on this new responsibility as mayor of Portland.

He says he wants to focus on making living in Portland affordable and has created three committees, focused on housing, energy and sustainability and economic development.

“My focus will always be how are we preserving what’s great about the city while we embrace this change that is coming to us that we need, and that will help us grow,” Strimling said.

The swearing in is at noon Monday at City Hall, followed by an inaugural celebration that night.
