WALDOBORO, Maine — A minor earthquake struck the Waldoboro area shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
It measured 1.8 on the magnitude scale used by USGS, according to information posted on its website. The earthquake was located about two miles north-northwest of the center of town.
Waldoboro has a population of about 5,000 but a land area of 73 square miles, according to information posted on the town’s website.
A 2.4 magnitude quake occurred about 5:20 p.m. Nov. 1 about 17 miles off the coast of Bar Harbor, according to a previously published report.
