AUGUSTA, Maine — City police are investigating a robbery of the Big Apple on Stone Street, according to Maj. Jared Mills.

Mills said the robbery occurred around 1:30 Monday morning, and police are seeking a male suspect.

The man, described as having a thin build with a dark jacket, ski hat and sunglasses and a scarf covering his face, handed a clerk a threatening message demanding cash, Mills said.

The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

Augusta police and a state police canine unit combed Stone and Middle streets and Eastern Avenue for the robber but could not locate him.

Anyone with information should call Detective Sgt. Jason Cote at 626-2370 ext. 3423.
