PORTLAND, Maine — Portland’s Mayor-elect Ethan Strimling took the oath of office on Monday.
The former state senator defeated incumbent mayor Michael Brennan last month.
Strimling says he thinks Portland is at a crossroads. He believes the city is becoming too expensive to live in.
“When you have a city that has zero percent vacancy and there is a $500 gap between what people can afford and where rents are, you need to start putting a lot of energy into solving that problem,” said Strimling.
The inauguration was at noon at City Hall. A celebration will be held Monday night at Ocean Gateway.
