BANGOR, Maine — A 21-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday morning after breaking into a vehicle on Fourth Street, Bangor Detective Sgt. David Bushey said in an email.
The man’s name was not immediately available, Bushey said. He added that the man is not believed to be responsible for a string of residential burglaries in Bangor over the past three months.
In addition, police are investigating a pair of residential burglaries that were reported Tuesday, one on Kineo Street and the other on Stone Street, Bushey said.
Police believe whoever is committing the residential break-ins likely is using a police scanner or a scanner phone app to keep track of when officers are busy with other calls, Bushey said. Approximately two dozen home burglaries in the city have been reported since the beginning of September, he added.
Anybody with information about the incidents should call Bangor police at 947-7384. The department’s tip line can be accessed via extension 6.
