LEWISTON, Maine — Mike Boornazian scored 26 points while Malcolm Delpeche and Marcus Delpeche each contributed double-doubles as the Bates men’s basketball team defeated Husson University 86-67 in a nonconference game Tuesday night in Alumni Gymnasium.

Boornazian tied his season high, making 10 of 12 free throws and leading the Bobcats (3-2) with four assists.

Malcolm Delpeche contributed 13 points with 12 rebounds and three blocks, while Marcus Delpeche pitched in 12 points, 10 boards and two blocks for 3-2 Bates. Jerome Darling scored 11 points.

Raheem Anderson led the Eagles of Bangor (3-2) with 25 points and Trevon Butler added 16. Eli Itkin had team highs of eight rebounds and four assists.

Bates outrebounded Husson 50-38, including 23 offensive boards.

Southern Maine 85, UMF 69

At Farmington, Zach Leal notched a game-high 20 points, including 15 in the second half, to spark the Huskies to victory.

Atencio Martin scored all 19 of his points in the final period for the University of Southern Maine of Gorham (5-4).

Anfernee Dent paced the University of Maine-Farmington (0-7) with 14 points and Eric Berry scored 13. Nick Hilton provided 12 points and six rebounds and Alan Young contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.

Bowdoin 84, MMA 54

At Castine, Bowdoin College scored the first 16 points of the game en route to a convincing win over Maine Maritime Academy.

Matt Palecki scored 17 points, all in the first half, for the 4-3 Polar Bears. Jack Simonds (12 points, eight rebounds) and Jake Donnelly (10 points) were other keys for the winners.

Brendan Newcomb’s 17 points paced the 2-4 Mariners, while Tyler Thayer added 13 points and six rebounds.

Women’s Basketball

MMA 59, Daniel Webster 46

At Castine, Maine Maritime Academy women’s basketball cruised to a 59-46 win over Daniel Webster College in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at Smith Gymnasium.

Alayne Felix scored 12 of her game-high 20 points in the first half to help the Mariners build a lead they would not relinquish. She also provided nine rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots.

Mikayla Charters contributed 12 points, eight rebounds and three steals and Tess Clark added nine rebounds for 3-3 MMA.

Ashley England led the Eagles (1-7) with nine points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists. Desiree McGee and Vivencia Philippe each added eight points.

Bates 67, UM-Augusta 49

At Lewiston, Madeline Foote scored 11 points in the third quarter and tallied all of her game- and career-high 21 points in the second half as the Bates women’s basketball team pulled away from UMaine-Augusta for a nonconference victory at Alumni Gymnasium.

Allie Coppola recorded her fourth straight double-double, with 12 points and 10 rebounds to go with a team-high four assists for 2-5 Bates. Nina Davenport added 14 points and three steals.

Jamie Plummer led the Moose (11-5) with 20 points, five rebounds and a team-high four assists. Caitlin LaFountain logged a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds and Morgan Card added 10 points and six boards.
