PORTLAND, Maine — A Portland High School teacher is facing a child pornography charge after he was arrested at the school on Wednesday morning, officials said.
Gerald White, 44, of Freeport, is facing a charge of possession of sexually explicit material of someone under the age of 12, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.
White, an art teacher, allegedly had dozens of images of child pornography of children not believed to be from Maine, McCausland said. State police’s Computer Crimes unit launched an investigation after receiving a tip. White’s computers were seized from his home on Tuesday.
White was taken to the Cumberland County Jail after his arrest.
