CROSS LAKE, Maine — A tractor-trailer driver suffered minor injuries Tuesday when his rig slid off Route 161 in northern Aroostook County, state police said.

David Stoll, 59, of Buffalo, New York, was traveling south with a load of potatoes when he lost control on a snowy road just south of the New Canada town line, Trooper Daniel Marquis said.

Stoll’s rig slid across the northbound lane and jackknifed against a rock wall, Marquis said. The impact ripped the cab off the tractor and totaled the vehicle.

Stoll was taken to Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent for a complaint of chest injuries and was released Wednesday morning, Marquis said.

Members of Ambulance Service Inc., based in Fort Kent, and of the North Lakes Fire Department assisted at the scene.
