ROCKPORT, Maine — A Rockland man accused of assaulting a hospital nurse was arrested Saturday afternoon.
Wyatt Chapdelaine, 20, was arrested by Rockport police Officer Cooper Plaisted and charged with assault on an emergency provider and violating a condition of release.
Rockport Police Chief Mark Kelley said Chapdelaine struck the Pen Bay Medical Center nurse in the back, hard enough to knock the wind out of him.
The police chief said he has encouraged the staff at the Rockport hospital to contact the Police Department in the event of any assault against workers.
“You can’t strike a hospital worker in any fashion,” the chief said.
Chapdelaine was taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland. He is being held without bail until he makes his initial court appearance Monday afternoon in Knox County Unified Court in Rockland.
Chapdelaine had been charged with assault on Dec. 11 in Penobscot County and released on bail.
