BURNHAM, Maine — A store owner who interrupted a burglary early Friday morning was knocked to the ground by the fleeing perpetrators, according to police.
The report of the burglary in progress at the Patterson Store was made about 3 a.m. by the owner, who was not seriously injured in the incident, according to a press release issued Friday afternoon by the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies dealing with the incident included Merl Reed, who brought his police dog, Frankie, to track the suspects. Maine State Police Detective Desiree Wuthenow helped process evidence at the scene, according to the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.
Police investigators conducted interviews and followed up on leads all day on Friday, and arrests are expected in the near future, according to the report.
