BANGOR, Maine — The National Weather Service in Caribou and Gray has issued a high wind warning from 3 to 11 p.m. Sunday for coastal Maine and southern Penobscot County.
Southeast winds between 25 and 35 miles per hour, with gusts of up to 50 miles per hour, were predicted.
Downed trees and snapped branches could cause power outages and blown debris might block roadways, the weather service warned.
A gale warning was issued for the Gulf of Maine. Recreational boaters were urged to remain in port.
Light snow and freezing drizzle moved into Maine on Saturday, but had not been blamed for any major accidents by midafternoon, according to Maine State Police dispatch centers.
A mix of sleet and freezing rain turning to all rain was expected throughout the state late Saturday into Sunday morning.
Temperatures ranging from the mid-30s in the north to near 50 in the south and rain were expected Sunday.
