STANDISH, Maine — A 59-year-old woman from Limington died after an early morning car crash in Standish, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened on Route 25 near the Limington Bridge. Investigators arrived at the scene around 5:30 a.m. and shut down the area for several hours. Route 25 near the Limington Bridge reopened before 11 a.m.
According to deputies, a witness saw the woman driving erratically before she eventually left the road, hit a utility pole and ended up in the woods.
“This was a survivable crash in my opinion. We believe this may be attributed to a medical event that occurred prior to the vehicle leaving the road,” Lt. Thomas Williams of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said.
Investigators don’t believe alcohol, speed or road conditions played a role in the crash. Deputies said the victim died at the scene.
Her name has not been released.
