NORTH ANDOVER, Massachusetts — Police arrested a man and a woman Wednesday night and charged them with stealing merchandise from Kohl’s Department Store.
The man was charged with his third offense of shoplifting, according to Lt. E.J. Foulds, spokesman for the North Andover Police Department.
Robert Roche, 44, and Amy Oakes, 31, both of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, posted bail and were scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Lawrence District Court, Foulds said.
Kohl’s, 350 Winthrop Ave., reported the couple had stolen merchandise at 7:40 p.m. A Kohl’s loss prevention officer confronted the suspects in their car and Officer Robert Barter arrived in time to provide backup, Foulds said.
Officer Julie Nigro also went to the scene.
“We take shoplifting very seriously,” Foulds said. “It affects all consumers.”
Kohl’s, a nationwide chain of department stores, employs effective loss prevention officers, he said.
