PORTLAND, Maine — Maine State Police say several crashes on Interstate 295 are causing significant delays in the Portland and Falmouth area.

Police say one crash northbound involves four vehicles. The Maine Department of Transportation said the highway is closed between exits 9 and 10.

The second crash is southbound and involves two vehicles near mile marker 9.

State police later reported that both the northbound and southbound lanes were closed for an hour, and only one patient was brought to the hospital with minor injuries.

Portland police assisted state police.
