PORTLAND, Maine — A local man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of another local man Thursday night, according to police.
Corey Shepard, 25, surrendered to Gorham police on Friday morning, according to a Portland police statement, and has been charged with aggravated assault, a Class A felony.
After the stabbing, the victim fled a Cabot Street residence to a Westbrook residence before being taken to Maine Medical Center, according to the statement.
Preliminary reports found the stabbing resulted after a drug dispute, the statement said.
The victim’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Shepard was brought to the Cumberland County Jail. The case remains under investigation.
